June 7, 2020
Dear Alta Vista Family,
I hope that each of you is well and safe. Last Monday, we closed the school due to one of our staff members contracting Covid-19. As soon as there was a diagnosis, we made the decision to close the school entirely pending an investigation by the Tulare County Health Department. The tracers were sent to the Health Department last Wednesday and they were able to analyze the data for each potential exposure case. The results were that there was no significant exposure to other staff and student populations, and that all forms of contact carried a low risk of exposure.
Therefore, we will be resuming our lunch program effective June 8, 2020 and we will have an essential staff on site to clean and prep the cafeteria and the facilities at large. We would like to assure you that our kitchen and cafeteria was not exposed at any time and we look forward to serving our safe and hearty meals once again. As we look back on this experience, our protocols and practices are what prevented the unwanted spread of this virus, and we will continue our practice of checking temperatures, performing health questionnaires, limiting staff access, and wearing the proper protective equipment. All of these practices will continue to serve us well as we continue to make our school the safest it can possibly be.
We will be contacting you soon regarding our plans for the fall. We are still waiting for guidelines and direction from the state to determine what our model will look like. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the school at 559-782-5700, or contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will be happy to talk with you. Take care.
