Bullying Report

Bullying is a big concern in the 2025-2026 school year. There has been an increase in bullying activity in the post-pandemic student culture. The District has policies against bullying and has re-trained staff to reduce the occurrences and address the problem in multiple ways. The students will be trained, re-trained, as well as receiving presentations that promote positive interactions throughout the school year.

While bullying on campus has increased, the most common issue with bullying stems from online activity. The students are very active online and most cases that are investigated have some form on online "cyberbullying" as a build up to the on campus bullying. Parents and guardians need to be aware that student online activity can affect students negatively. Please monitor your student's online activity to ensure their safety. Together, we can ensure that students have a safe place to learn.

It is very important that parents and students feel comfortable telling adults about the bullying that they see or receive. The "Submit a Bullying Report" link below can be used to report to the school administration so that the school can address the issue.

Always remember that discipline is confidential and administrators, teachers, and support staff are not allowed to discuss what happens to a student when they are disciplined. Alta Vista is dedicated to following the policies adopted by the Board of Trustees which require that we follow the discipline system. If a student is reported for bullying. The incident will be investigated, and if determined to be true, the student caught bullying will face discipline as directed by our policy. If you never find out what type of discipline was given, then the school also followed the confidentiality policy as well.
